This Week's Little Life Notes From Me to You

Last month we started a weight loss program with a small group of motivated clients and the results are amazing. Having each other's support has been crucial, and everyone has seen progress from 4 lbs to 8lbs, less pain in the knees says one client, and more energy another.

I bought a scale a couple weeks ago to track my weight release progress, and got a bit of a surprise. I've been noticing a difference in the way my clothes fit, but clearly, from the summer to January the weight had been creeping back on. and without a reliable tracking method it was easy to be in denial.

Think about it- 3 lbs every six months adds up quickly! It's good to know that with structure and the right information we can make a difference and look and feel our best.

Two Ways That Yoga Helps Maintain A Healthy Body Weight in Today's Busy World

Stuffed into a tiny change room at the hospital clothing store, I struggled to put on a nursing bra and burst into tears. The reality in the mirror was such a shock- I looked like I was still pregnant. That baby weight was difficult to release, and what helped me the most was to re-focus on myself and my needs.

Mothers become so busy trying to take care of everyone but themselves, we lose energy, gain weight or get sick. This isn’t restricted to moms of course, the line between nurturer and people pleaser can be a fine one.

Yoga helps you get to the root of the problem by building your strength.

A daily yoga practice helps you maintain muscle mass, feel limber, and stay calm. Having that overall strength in body and soul builds a positive attitude, which supports you in your health aims and in having extra energy to nurture others.

While increasing muscle mass and moving the body improves metabolism, inner strength helps you to act on your goals and feel fulfilled. Committing to and devoting time to your health includes activities that are just for you and your happiness. Otherwise we fill that void with something- TV, snacks, scrolling, or shopping.

The practice of yoga develops deeper inner awareness.

Our whole being, right down to our cells, loves routine. Disrupting the negative patterns meets resistance because our body feels these patterns as the source of its equilibrium. We are comforting and stabilizing ourselves every day with our habits and addictions.

Through self-awareness, when you experience thoughts and cravings that sabotage your progress, you can recognize them and create strategies to replace them with healthy alternatives.

Maintaining a healthy weight in our busy world is about priorities:

* Loving yourself
* Slowing down and taking time for oneself
* Exercising and stretching the body
* Calming the mind
* Building a foundation for conscious transformation

The good news is the journey of yoga is a gentle, steady, enjoyable routine that has multiple benefits. So comforting and stabilizing through yoga is a big help. Book a private consult with Frances to find the right program for you!
